I completed this peaceful moonlight landscape of a wetland in my studio after taking a short hike by the C-18 canal in Palm Beach Gardens off PGA Blvd. There is a pebbly path that leads you all the way to Riverbend Park.   There is a beautiful park called Sandhill Crane Access Park with a nice overlook, picnic tables and restrooms.  I noticed that people on bicycles travel on the pathway to Riverbend.  This area is part of the Loxahatchee Slough. The nature marsh painting feels magical and you can almost hear the crickets and frogs serande the moon!  The moonlight dances on the serene marsh. The painting has a 3-D look and feel. I am honored to be in ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival this weekend in Jupiter, Florida! Come by booth 150 on University Drive and see some of my new artwork that I have been working on for the past year.   The art festival opens at 10 am each day and closes at 6 pm Sat. and Sun. and closes at 5pm on Monday.  The high caliber art festival is produced by the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and is not one to be missed. This beautiful contemporary sunset nature painting was created using layers of glazing  in order to give this contemporary painting a luminous look and feel. This breathtaking sunrise painting is based on a Jekyll Island trip we took.  The sunlit trees and grasses illuminate and reflect in the glistening water in this landscape painting. Jekyll Island provides a lot of inspiration for landscape and plein air paintings as much of the island is not developed.  I was fascinated by the miles of beautiful beaches and marshes. We took some time to take a stroll in the village shopping area by the Jekyll Island Club in the historic district.  We also visited some old ruins on the island too!

When I was growing up in South Texas, we would go fishing at the jetties on Padre Island, Texas. I loved watching the shrimp boats come and go.    I can still remember going over the old causeway and seeing shrimp boats at the docks where we would stop for an ice cream cone on our way home. During a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, we stopped in a coastal town called Darien, Georgia just to see the shrimp boats that are abundant there.  This detailed marine painting was inspired by an old shrimp boat that was docked by an old shed.  I put the shimmering light in the door that glows on the deck and on the railing.  An old anchor hangs in the front of the boat and the water beautifully reflects the shrimp boat.   I c
