Living Well Haven

  I put my last three oil paintings in an assembly line to paint the sides.  I often take over the dining room table to perform this task.   The painting in the middle is based on our trip up to Watercolor Beach, FL with Chula, our dog.   I think I will call it "I Only Have Eyes for You". John was focused on Chula and not the beautiful woman who rode by on the sunlit sidewalk next to a stream.  I knew when I took this photo, that I would capture that moment on a canvas one day.  I miss our little Chula.  She loved to go on trips with us.   I also painted this glistening waterlily painting based on a Florida marsh at sunset.   The carnival of colors are delightful and memorizing.  I am a big fan of Monet and can see his influence in the way I paint my waterlily paintings.  I remember visiting an art museum and admiring one of his waterlily paintings.  I asked the curator why the edges still had white  canvas showing and remarked that it looked unfinished.  She said that Monet

I completed this peaceful moonlight landscape of a wetland in my studio after taking a short hike by the C-18 canal in Palm Beach Gardens off PGA Blvd. There is a pebbly path that leads you all the way to Riverbend Park.   There is a beautiful park called Sandhill Crane Access Park with a nice overlook, picnic tables and restrooms.  I noticed that people on bicycles travel on the pathway to Riverbend.  This area is part of the Loxahatchee Slough. The nature marsh painting feels magical and you can almost hear the crickets and frogs serande the moon!  The moonlight dances on the serene marsh. The painting has a 3-D look and feel. Great Blue Heron in Marsh Painting 20x16 Great Blue Herons are one of my favorite coastal birds.  I see them frequently in my back yard by my lake.  Sometimes they are so tame that you can get up close and practically touch them. Some of the older birds seem to be use to photographers and seem to pose when you are pointing the camera at them!  This is a painting of a Great Blue Heron in  a grassy marsh.  The painting has beautiful warm gold and green grass up against the dark water and is very striking.  This work of art would make an elegant statement in any coastal inspired home.  Great Blue Herons are at home in many nature areas including marshes and beaches.  I have seen them along the beach on the West Coast on Sanibel Island, but  I've never seen one on an Atlantic Coast beach.  They can also be seen on inland wetlands and rivers.
