This seascape painting was based on photographs I tool on South Padre Island, Texas last year.  We went see family and took a nice vacation on the island.  We stayed in one of my big brother's beach condos!  Sunrises and sunsets are my favorite times of the day, and they are my favorite subjects to paint!  Each one different and unique!   I woke up everyday and watched the sunrise and took lots of photographs.  There was one morning that had rain clouds, but the sunrise was gorgeous that morning too!  I will soon paint that breathtaking coastal scene too!

Jekyll Island provides a lot of inspiration for landscape and plein air paintings as much of the island is not developed.  I was fascinated by the miles of beautiful beaches and marshes. We took some time to take a stroll in the village shopping area by the Jekyll Island Club in the historic district.  We also visited some old ruins on the island too!
